Sanders backs away from criticism of Clinton’s qualifications

The Michigan Republican convention kicked off this afternoon in Lansing and this year’s meeting carries a lot of weight with the hotly contested GOP presidential nomination.

And in a new TV ad, first reported by The New York Times, Kasich’s campaign says Cruz won’t be able to defeat Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton in the general election.

While Cruz’s campaign spent months recruiting slates of delegates and securing pledges, Trump only this past week hired a Colorado state director.

Meanwhile, 58 percent said they would remain with the Republican Party.

Cruz has attracted flak for criticizing what he calls ‘New York values, ‘ and attracted protests in the Bronx when he visited there on Wednesday.

Two of the three Republican presidential candidates were on the campaign trail in Pennsylvania during the polling period.

Manafort said on CNN’s “New Day” programme that rival Ted Cruz, the United States senator from Texas, will not be able to dent Trump’s delegate lead before California’s June 7 primary.

Cruz hasn’t stressed the term during his campaign in New York, but he hasn’t backed away when asked about it. He said he was referring to Democratic politics that dominate New York City, led by Democratic politicians Trump has supported in the past.

“Donald Trump is radioactive”, says Gerald Benjamin, a political science professor at SUNY New Paltz. “Everyone knows what NY values are”.

Cruz credited his February 1 Iowa caucuses victory in part to his attacks on Trump’s “New York values”.

“Now, our friends in the media tell us that Donald Trump is unstoppable in New York State”. Cruz already had locked up the support of 21 Colorado delegates and visited the state to try to pad his numbers there.

That variation can matter since GOP convention delegates are determined according to which candidate wins the most primary votes for each of California’s 53 congressional districts. Ted Cruz or Ohio Gov. John Kasich is nominated.

“Who turns out is going to mean the world in this race”, Borick said. Trump’s voter problem isn’t just isolated to a select group, as his popularity is down across almost all voting blocs, including men and women, white, black, and Hispanic, as well as young and older voters.

Walker said he doesn’t believe deciding the nominee at the convention would result in chaos.
