“I think he is ready to come into the Premier League”, said Guidolin.
The Blues flirted with the relegation zone earlier in the season after a disastrous start to their title defence, before Guus Hiddink steadied the ship following the sacking of Jose Mourinho in November. “We must see what Chelsea want”.
Conte is now manager of Italy but he has agreed to leave the Azzurri after the European Championships in France.
Several other players may have been considering their future at Chelsea, given the lack of Champions League football next term, but the fact the Blues have signed a manager with Conte’s track record could persuade them to stay put. Find us on Facebook too!
ANTONIO CONTE, new Chelsea manager.
Conte is accused of sporting fraud for allegedly failing to report attempts to fix a match against AlbinoLeffe when he was in charge of Serie B side Siena in 2010-11.
Conte denies the allegations. But it is rare in Italy for anybody to go to jail after receiving a sentence of less than two years.
Lukaku endured a nightmare first spell at Chelsea which saw him make just 15 appearances for the club between 2011 and 2013 before joining Everton where he’s scored 61 goals in 117 games over the past three seasons.
Chelsea director Marina Granovskaia said the club were pleased to recruit “one of the most highly regarded managers in world football”.
Siena gained promotion to Serie A that season, with that success earning Conte the job at Juventus, the club he graced as a player for 13 years.
The Italian was confirmed as the new manager scheduled to take over at the club after his contract with the Italian national team runs over in July.
He has shown the same steely determination he exhibited as a player in his coaching and demanded the same commitment from his players. Before taking over the national team, Conte managed Juventus from 2011 to 2014.
