Rajasthan HC allows Salman Khan’s plea to summon witnesses for re-examination

Salman’s lawyer Amit Desai sought adjournment of hearing till August 3, but Justice AR Joshi did not consider his plea and decided to hear the 49-year-old actor’s appeal from July 30.

The actor was not present at the Court today, but his sister Alvira was there.

The plea also seeks for the cancellation of bail given to Salman Khan after the conviction where he was sentenced for fiver years of jail term.

The trial in the case had been stayed earlier by the sessions court and then by the high court since May 4 when Mr Khan had to produce evidence in support of his plea of innocence in the court of Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate (Rural).

Salman filed an appeal against the lower court’s ruling at the High Cour which suspended the sentence and granted him bail.

On May 6, Salman Khan was convicted of culpable homicide not amounting to murder and sentenced to five years imprisonment in the case but escaped being sent to jail after the Bombay High Court granted him interim bail till May 8.

Salman Khan’s auto had met with accident in suburban Bandra on September 28, 2002, killing one person and injuring four.

You would expect Salman Khan’s controversial remarks on Yakub Memon’s hanging on July 30 on Twitter to run its course and die down after nationwide protest against the actor.
