In 1983, Congress declared April to be National Child Abuse Prevention Month.
“Shining attention on the positivity that pinwheels signify brings awareness that supports Prevent Child Abuse Delaware’s mission to make sure every child has a safe and nurturing childhood, one free of abuse and neglect”.
“Prevention needs to happen year round, but April is a great opportunity to get started by joining coalitions and prevention networks that are already in place”, said Brandie O’Connor, administrator for Comanche County Health Department. We must come together as partners so that the voices of our children are heard by all and our community extends a helping hand to children and families in need. In other words, at some point in these children’s short lives, DCF had received an abuse report but had found no risks with them or their families.
Sadly, each year there are an estimated 686,000 children that are the victims of child abuse and neglect and the numbers are staggering throughout Texas as well. “We must be the voice of those who cannot speak for themselves and Pennsylvania’s children need us to do everything we can to protect them today and in the future”.
If you suspect abuse or neglect, you’re encouraged to call the Indiana Child Abuse and Neglect Hotline at 1-800-800-5556.
“If it’s not an adult’s job to protect a child, then whose job is it?”
