Republican delegate system is rigged
“The system is rigged, it’s crooked”, Donald Trump said Monday on Fox News, with his usual understatement, after Ted Cruz won 34 GOP delegates in Colorado while Mr. Trump was shut out.

“Let’s wait until the state convention before we make that decision”, Branstad told reporters in discussing prospects for his possible participation in what could become the first open GOP national convention since 1976 – a meeting in Kansas City where Branstad was an alternate delegate. “We’re going to be filing several protests”, he said.
Speaking to a crowd of thousands, Republican frontrunner Donald Trump slammed the presidential primary process, calling it a “crooked system”. It occurred in a meeting that led to Kasich and Trump’s delegations blocking delegates for Cruz from any seats on powerful national convention committees. “All across the country, people are waking up and help is on the way”.
Trump went on Fox and Friends Monday morning and complained that the system is “rigged”. Seven in each of the congressional districts, and then one at their state convention.
“If we continue to stand united we will win this Republican nomination”, he said.
In most states, delegates are bound to candidates according to how voters at a primary or caucus cast their ballots. The state is Trump’s home turf, and he is well ahead in polling there. For purposes of this prediction, I will call the new party the Freedom Party.
But Cruz brushed that criticism aside, noting that his wins have been by the rules.
On Sunday, Manafort said the Cruz campaign was using “Gestapo tactics” to win over delegates while on Monday Trump accused Cruz of trying to steal delegates in SC, where Trump won the state primary in February.
“If they decide to go to Cleveland via Cabo (San Lucas, Mexico), that might be a problem”, said Anthony Herman, a former FEC general counsel.
Colorado was expected to be good for Cruz, but not quite this good.
“Donald has been yelling and screaming”, Cruz told supporters.
“I think on the question of marijuana legalization, we should leave it to the states“, Cruz said before addressing the GOP activists at the state convention here.”If it were me personally, voting on it in the state of Texas, I would vote against it”.
Not everyone agreed. Ann Althouse, writing on her blog, made a different comment. “I respect that decision”, he continued. Current polls suggest Trump is poised to take all the statewide delegates and is likely to win a sizable proportion of delegates at the district level. “If it doesn’t work well, other states may choose not to follow”.
“The latest thing he seized upon, is when people vote against him, they’re stealing the election”, Cruz said of Trump. Most picked national delegates based on which presidential candidate they favored.
The field is more mixed among Republican women, among whom Cruz leads at 31 percent, with 29 percent for Trump and 26 percent for Kasich.
“So every weekend I see the results come in”.

Earlier in the day, Sierra Stieb of Colorado Springs handed out Trump fliers. “But those qualities also have a negative attribute”. Mr. Trump, I further predict, will announce that he is withdrawing from the Republican Party and running on a new party.
