Microsoft aims to reboot connections with Windows 10

Intel says it expects the battery life on Windows systems to be as close as machines running Windows 8.1 once the update to the final Windows 10 drivers gets released. A variety of other new features are included, such as improvements to Windows printin, a quicker way to view Windows notifications in OS X, improved file associations, and real-time location support in Windows. If you have reserved a copy using the Get Windows 10 app it will automatically start to download and prompt you to install when ready.

In fact, in a post via the Windows Insiders Hub app, Microsoft announced that Insiders are required to update to Windows 10 build 10240 if they haven’t already. Of course, just because it’s free doesn’t mean you have to make the upgrade.

Microsoft purchased Skype back in 2011, but has done a rather poor job of integrating the service, even though it’s one of the most popular services the company owns.

Mail has been updated to counter the Outlook application on the desktop, with the full array of Word edits built in and new gestures to allow you to sort your email faster. Over time, it will probably help Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella reach his goal of having 1 billion Windows-powered devices on the market by the next two-to-three years. Furthermore, if you’re using a Windows Enterprise version, systems administrators will control the upgrade. The last thing you want to do is upgrade, only to find yourself not being able to get your work done.

The company took its first step toward this all-encompassing OS with Windows 8, only it wasn’t so great. Hard-core gamers may be inclined to explore upgrading to Windows 10 Pro, which will give you more flexibility on installing small updates and patches. Both the giants are consistently working hard for the Windows 10, which is scheduled to hit the market shortly.

If you have a computer that’s only a couple of years old and you really hate Windows 8.1, then you probably want this upgrade. Can you seriously see yourself doing that in your house? It’s a rough rule, as some new mobile chips run at speeds lower than 2GHz, but can boost to higher speeds when they need to. Developer previews of the platform show features that seem to combine Windows 7 and 8, plus several other new ideas.
