A total of 13 bodies are still to be identified. A cabinet subpanel consisting of Ministers Shibu Baby John, Adoor Prakash and V S Sivakumar will visit Paravur tomorrow. Based on the report compensation will be provided to all the affected sections.

Government’s priority now was to provide the best possible treatment to the injured being treated in hospitals, he said. “It is very unfortunate and not correct”. CPM state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan was the home minister when the Pullumedu tragedy and the Thekkady boat accident happened.

“At a time like this, we all have to work unitedly to help the victims”.

Mr. Chandy said the government would take up the responsibility of supporting the education of Krishna and Kishore, the two children who were orphaned following the death of their parents in the disaster. “As the Crime Branch probe into the tragedy is progressing, I’m holding back my opinion on who is responsible for this disaster”, he said.

However, Chandy made it clear that any person found guilty for the mishap would be brought before justice. It was alleged that the Collector blamed the police for giving permission to hold fireworks display.

As many as 113 people lost their lives in the tragedy which occurred at the Puttingal temple in Kollam district on Sunday morning
