Former Baylor defensive lineman Shawn Oakman, who was once considered a strong National Football League draft prospect, has been arrested on a sexual assault charge.

A search warrant was executed at Oakman’s apartment on April 3 after a Baylor student told police that Oakman sexually assaulted her when the two went to his apartment after leaving Scruffy Murphy’s, a Waco bar.
Defensive end Shawn Oakman was arrested Wednesday afternoon and transported to the McLennan County Jail, according to KVUE’s sister station KCEN.
A police affidavit for the search warrant said police were looking for clothing the woman left behind at Oakman’s duplex, earrings, blood, semen, bodily fluids, hair, skin cells, DNA, bedsheets and other items.
Baylor’s career sacks leader finished his college eligibility in December.
Sam Ukwuachu a former defensive end was convicted of sexual assault in August 2015.
Oakman’s agent did not immediately respond to requests for comment on the arrest.
The affidavit also stated that the victim alleged that Oakman “forcibly removed” her clothing, forced her onto the bed and sexually assaulted her. The affidavit stated that she was able to leave, but left her underwear and an earring in the bedroom.
The woman says she was attacked by the 6ft 9ins, 290lbs footballer between 2am and 3am at his apartment in Waco.
The affidavit says the woman was “treated for her injuries” at a medical center, where a sexual assault examination was performed. A former student accused the university of deliberate indifference in its handling of her complaints about one player, Tevin Elliott, who was eventually charged and convicted in 2014 of two counts of sexual assault. Ukwuachu was sentenced to six months in jail and ten years of probation for the crime.
In February, ESPN’s Outside the Lines reported that “school officials either failed to investigate, or adequately investigate, allegations of sexual violence”.
Oakman then moved to Baylor where he issued a statement saying: ‘I want to show Penn State and that I messed up, but I’m back now’.
“I was mad at myself”.
Waco police haven’t formally announced Oakman’s charges.

Oakman didn’t live up to his preseason hype last season, but he had 14½ tackles for loss and 4½ sacks this past season.
