Jared Allen signs 1-day contract to retire with Vikings
Former Minnesota Vikings defensive end Jared Allen has signed a one-day contract with the team to officially retire as a Viking.

Allen is third on the Vikings all-time sacks list with 83.5.
The 34-year-old announced his retirement on Twitter in February.
Allen was originally drafted in the 4th Round (#126 overall) of the 2004 NFL Draft by the Kansas City Chiefs. It’s fitting he’s retiring in purple, given his connection to the Vikings and allegiance to the people of Minnesota is deeper than to any of his other stops.
The Vikings made the announcement Thursday.
At the time, he posted a video saying he was “riding off into the sunset”, but apparently he is making a pit stop in Minnesota. He started in 96 regular season and four playoff games during his time in Minnesota and recorded 16 forced fumbles, nine fumble recoveries and four interceptions during that time.

He has been one of the better players in the National Football League for the last decade and a half and he is going to be missed on the field by all fans. “I look forward to seeing what he accomplishes now that he is retired from football”. He even mentioned that the Panthers helped facilitate the deal where Allen was able to retire a Viking. Jared Allen’s Homes for Wounded Warriors has built seven homes for veterans.
