Titans to trade No. 1 draft pick to Rams

If Cleveland has its heart set on either Cal quarterback Jared Goff or North Dakota State’s Carson Wentz and the Rams feel the same way, the Browns will once again be left with the short end of the stick when it comes to finding their next franchise quarterback.

Los Angeles moved up from No. 15 and gave up a haul to move to the top of the draft.

The Cleveland Browns and their No. 2 pick will nearly assuredly take whomever is left standing after the Rams are off the clock.

San Francisco 49ers/Philadelphia Eagles: These two teams looked poised to be able to get the second quarterback off the board, now they’ll have to reach in order to get one in the first round. “Somebody just asked me ‘Who do you think won on that trade?’ You can’t say the answer to that right now”. Only one team has moved up from a lower spot since merger than the Rams did on Thursday: The Oilers held the 17th pick before it moved to No. 1 to select Campbell via a trade with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Had the Titans stayed at No. 1 and drafted Tunsil or Ramsey (there is a zero percent chance they would take a quarterback with Marcus Mariota already on the roster), the Browns would have had their pick of the top two signal callers in the draft and their trading power would have remained extremely high. The Rams also agreed to part with their first- and third-round picks in next year’s draft.

With a sure-fire franchise quarterback not at the top of the draft as in previous years, the Browns will not get a king’s ransom like the then-St.

The 2016 NFL Draft is quickly approaching, and Thursday brought about one of the biggest blockbuster trades in league history.

It’s the first trade potentially involving a compensatory draft pick.

Allowing that “a couple” teams were in the running with the Rams for the No. 1 overall pick, Robinson said he was convinced the timing and the value was in his favor and he decided not to wait for another offer.

We knew the Rams moving to LA would make waves, and today the Hollywood drama begin. Fans of the franchise now have appointment viewing for the evening of April 28th as a historic pick will be made as the team returns to Los Angeles. For the 2016 draft, compensatory picks can’t be traded.

The Rams went 7-9 in St. Louis past year while getting unimpressive quarterback play from Nick Foles and Case Keenum. But in making a deal reminiscent of the one they cut to let Washington draft RG III, it is important to note that they are not making the same trade for the wrong reasons. While he has the arm strength, accuracy and more athleticism than Goff, Wentz didn’t face great competition at the FCS level. But now that the top of the Draft is crystallizing, will anyone want to move up? The Cleveland Browns, at No. 2, also need a quarterback, but now have leverage to try to facilitate a trade with a team that might be even more desperate to not miss out on whichever quarterback the Rams did not draft.
