Arsenal star makes surprise admission about title chances after West Ham clash

Arsenal managed Arsene Wenger conceded his side needs to improve its ability to defend in the air following Saturday’s enthralling 3-3 draw at West Ham in the Premier League.

“We will fight until the end, until the last game in the league, to achieve what we want”.

“It is hard now to be champions, but we have to keep going because you never know what can happen. We have to be serious and focus on finishing as high as possible”. “When you see the game that’s one of the places you feel guilty you dropped points”.

They had West Ham on the ropes.

Bilic is likely to address the issue on Tuesday when he faces the media ahead of Wednesday night’s FA Cup quarter-final replay against Manchester United at Upton Park.

“We are so confident”. I am proud of everything.

“Do we still have an opportunity to win the title?”

Carroll was not finished there, though, and completed his hat-trick when he nodded Michail Antonio’s cross home to perhaps stake a late, late claim for an England call-up for Euro 2016.

“I didn’t expect him to start, though, because he has not played the last five or six games”.

He gave the Hammers to the steel to turn around the match on the brink of the half and his strong, physical performance caused chaos in Arsenal’s comparatively spineless defense.

The Birmingham club must now win out and get help in order to have a shot to stay in the Premier League.

Carroll was handed a start up front by West Ham manager Slaven Bilic, who was also able to select midfielder Cheikhou Kouyate after his red card against Crystal Palace was overturned.

When asked to clarify his comments about Carroll’s fitness, Bilic was reluctant to go into further detail, but said there were no issues with the striker’s commitment to the club.

They were 2-0 up and seemingly cruising to a third-straight victory by the 35th minute thanks to slick goals from Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez.

The first on 44 minutes was a Carroll classic, a thudding header from six yards from Aaron Cresswell’s cross from the left that left Arsenal goalkeeper David Ospina rooted to the spot.

Carroll was booked for an early foul on Koscielny and later appeared to catch Gabriel with an elbow.

But not long after, Carroll was at it again, and this time the Hammers did have their lead. Firstly, when Lanzini burst into the penalty area and went down after a challenge by Bellerin and West Ham looked for a penalty.
