The Huawei Nexus 6P that was launched as a successor model for Nexus 6 by Motorola has been appreciated for its topnotch hardware and stock edition of Android.

Whatever the final picture would be, Huawei’s trademark filing is the strongest evidence yet of a device that is linked to Google’s Nexus 2016 plans.

We’re pretty big fans of the Huawei-made Nexus 6P, even arguing at one point earlier this year that it was the best Android device available. The description of the trademark clearly indicates that it’s some sort of smartphone, but doesn’t get too specific. Many tech experts predicted that Huawei 7P is a successor of Nexus 6P but without the Android software.

Other tech sites have reported that the Huawei 7P will be a tablet that will be launched to succeed the 7-inch Nexus tablet from 2013.

There’s also a possibility of it being the successor of the highly successful Nexus 7 tablet which launches nearly three years ago and offered a nice mix of features at an affordable price. The closest that they can get to are the hinted features so far of the Android N – Google’s upcoming replacement for Android Marshmallow and the mobile OS that will power the Nexus 2016 devices.

As for the next Nexus smartphone, rumours are claiming that it will be based on the HTC 10. The Huawei 7P could be a project that is independent of Google. What upgrades are you hoping to see on the next Nexus smartphone?

If that’s true, don’t expect the Nexus 7P to be a low-priced device like the original or second-gen Nexus 7.

Huawei has just released on Google Play Store the first standalone Android application that usually comes integrated in EMUI.

Rumor has it that the company is making efforts to retain the brand image built by Nexus 6P.
