Instagram rolling out new channels to show you videos you might like
Instagram overhauled the explore section of its iOS and Android app. The update will include a number of video channels, which is expected to attract more users. A new personalized channel called “Videos You Might Like” collects videos that may be of interest to you. Instagram states that even with these changes, the overall Explore experience won’t change at all.

Instagram may still be better known for it’s still picture content but the company is investing heavily in the future of video. If you don’t like the subject of the video at all, just tap on the three dots in the upper-right corner of the video and either report the user’s video if it violates Instagram’s guidelines or tell Instagram that you want to see fewer videos like it.
Video has become a major focus for Instagram.
Instagram promises that Explore will still work the way it always has, connecting you to posts about stuff you’re interested in from people you don’t yet follow. Even Vine, the app which provides 6-second video loops, has introduced a new “Watch” feature that lets brands create a series of videos, which combine to form a full story. There is also an option that allows you to either report the video or say that you do not like it, so related content will cease to appear on your personalized feed. Unlike Snapchat, these videos can be viewed over and over for years to come, breaking the 24-hour limit that Snapchat videos come with. The Facebook-owned service ran into trouble last month when it announced new algorithms to rearrange the chronological feed, with ove 500,000 users petitioning Instagram to reverse its decision.
