Scoring will much easier here than it was over the past week and the victor come Sunday at the RBC Heritage has hit double-digits under par in all but one outing since 2006. The former world No. 1 channeled that anger to shoot his best round since January, a 5-under 66 at the RBC Heritage that left the Englishman tied with Branden Grace for the first-round lead Thursday.
You can get Paul Casey with odds of +1600, which is pretty solid considering he’s finished in the top-25 in each of his three appearances at the Harbour Town Golf Links. As South Carolina is just up the road from Augusta, and numerous players on tour grew up in the South, there are a few golfers who will be playing this week who were in the field a week ago. Over the past three tournaments, we’ve seen three first-time winners, including Tony Finau in Puerto Rico, Jim Herman at the Shell Houston Open, and Danny Willett at Augusta. One of the other two was a one-stroke win that probably should have been a playoff (Matt Kuchar chipped in from a bunker). Fantasy advice: He may be he second-most talented player in the field and his price is down. But if you get the ball above the tree line the wind can really take over. However, the American veteran will not take to the field this time around due to a wrist injury. Casey had an impressive fourth place finish at the Masters last week, and he had top-10 finishes at the WGC-Cadillac and Arnold Palmer. The flip side: if you play safe and hit the middle of the green when the hole is on the front, a 2-putt par can be stressful because of the speed.
Golfer since 2001 has won in his professional PGA Tour debut. These are my first thoughts on the picks after my initial research, and if my thoughts change at all through the week I will be emailing out updates (sign up below). All of the guys worked so hard leading into last week and so hard during the week that this week, as I enjoyed about playing here, is nearly like a breath of fresh air, a relaxation time.
