A melee erupted in a Brooklyn, New York Target store after police repeatedly punched a man who was pinned to the ground by numerous officers. A crowd of customers who gathered at the scene were demanding that the officers stop. One officer then pinned the suspect’s head to the floor with his knee.

It is reported that the commotion began when a Target employee called police after she became involved in an argument with Brissett when he requested a receipt for returning bottles to the store.

When Brissett refused, police moved in to arrest him, as seen on a 14-minute video of the incident which shows a group of officers on top of the man.

“You can’t hit him, don’t hit him!” a man shouts in the background.

Michael Rolland, 31, who took the video while shopping at the store with his girlfriend, told the paper: “I was certainly shocked at the level of force that was used”.

Other officers arrive and one bystander can be heard saying “50 police for one person”.

Even with the explanation, Williams and Bichotte said there are several questions including whether are not the man was mentally or emotionally disturbed and if the use of force reasonable.

The man was charged with trespassing, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct and obstructing government administration.

The New York Police Department told the Daily News it was reviewing the video, which was posted on Youtube.

The video depicting officer brutality is being verified by police, NYPD spokesman said.
