Officers were called to 321 Slocum Avenue Saturday at 6:03 p.m. When they arrived, police say they found two 21-year-old men stabbed multiple times. Howard, a former Orange defensive back who parted ways with the program in September 2014 before re-enrolling at SU this year, was charged with two counts of assault in the second degree and criminal possession of a weapon in the fourth degree.

Investigators tell NewsChannel 9 that one victim was taken to the hospital in a private vehicle.

This isn’t an incident that affects just the two players, but everyone in the institution.

A standout Rush-Henrietta football player who is a defensive back with Syracuse University was one of two players reportedly stabbed by another Syracuse student, according to a Syracuse media outlet.

Winfield, of St. Louis, Missouri, played eight games, had 26 solo tackles and was in on 30 total tackles – he also had two sacks and two interceptions.

However, he was not allowed to rejoin the football team. He is now being held at the Onondaga County Justice Center and has been suspended indefinitely by the school.
