Snow Socks Colorado, More Severe Weather Expected in Mid-Section of County
Late Friday night and early Saturday morning, the weather in the Denver, Colorado area began to change. CDOT is warning drivers that road closures are a possibility with this storm, if the wet, heavy snow falls at a rate of an inch to an inch and a half or more an hour.

Because of cooler air in the mountains, the snow will be drier than in the metro area and cause more hazardous driving conditions and greater snow totals.
A winter storm warning is in effect for the mountains from noon Friday through 6 a.m. Sunday.
A cold frontal boundary generated heavy rain and strong to severe thunderstorms across a large portion of the central and southern Plains.
Heath Montgomery, an airport spokesman, tells the Denver Post: “We didn’t have many delays because our flight schedule was thinned out”.
The Denver rally leadership team said on its Facebook page that Saturday’s rally will be rescheduled due to weather and other issues.
On Monday, the National Weather Service forecast calls for 40 percent chance of scattered rain and snow showers in Durango during the day dropping a 10 percent chance at night.
They also warned of potential flooding as a slow-moving storm moved into the Oklahoma Panhandle.
Meanwhile, officials at Denver International Airport say airlines have canceled about 680 flights on Saturday.

The storm has a wide reach with a high water content snow falling in both the mountains and foothills as well as on the adjacent plains.
