Clinton backer George Clooney condemns ‘obscene’ sums in White House race
The interview came just after Clooney and his wife Amal hosted a San Francisco event for the Democratic front-runner that cost up to $353,400 per couple – the type of fundraiser that her rival Bernie Sanders has constantly criticized.

After hosting two fundraisers over the weekend for Hillary Clinton, George Clooney called the thousands of dollars raised “obscene” in a pre-taped interview that aired Sunday morning on NBC News’ Meet the Press.
“They’re right to protest”, Clooney said.

Mr. Sanders – who stresses that he is a huge fan of Mr. Clooney – used Friday night’s fundraiser to again draw clear distinctions between himself and Mrs. Clinton. “And I think you can judge a candidate based on how you raise money and who you ultimately become dependent upon”. Asked whether she would, as president, sign a bill mandating a $15 federal minimum, Clinton said, emphatically: “Of course I would”.
