The first is a $8.99 stand-alone Prime video membership, which provides access to Amazon’s original content. Customers can also access licensed movies and television shows.

Sometimes you can’t stomach the idea of paying a big yearly subscription price upfront, either because it feels like a big expense or because you’re not ready to commit for a full year to a service that you’re not sure you’ll enjoy in a couple of months.
Starting today (Monday), customers can subscribe to Amazon’s “Prime” video service as a stand alone option for $8.99, which is one dollar less than Netflix’s most popular plan. Amazon’s website said that users who opt to pay $10.99 monthly, instead of the $99 annual fee, can cancel at any time.
Besides its stand-alone video service, Amazon is also offering a new pay-as-you-go option for its full Prime membership that costs $10.99 a month and comes with free-two day shipping, streaming and other perks.
Both of the new monthly Prime membership options are more expensive than an annual membership.
As for customers in the United Kingdom, they’ve always had video streaming services through monthly subscriptions from Amazon UK, as pointed out by TechRadar. As much as they dominated video rentals with their mail order service, their streaming service is not as good as people would like. The service, which unbundles the video streaming element of Amazon Prime, will cost $8.99 per month.
The high rate of overlap suggests that Hulu and Amazon’s subscribers are people who have begun to buy into a streaming future.
The Seattle-based e-commerce giant * a href=”https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00DBYBNEE?_encoding=UTF8&*Version*=1&*entries*=0″ target=”_blank” *has unveiled two monthly subscription plans in a bid to lure more subscribers, particularly those who now subscribe to Netflix.
One year later, it unveiled Prime Instant Video, another bonus that came with Prime membership.
Amazon’s video service features such notable programs as PBS’ “Downton Abbey”, children’s shows from the Nickelodeon TV network, and past seasons of HBO series such as “The Sopranos”.
Price: $7.99 a month for its basic subscription with commercials.
Netflix has never offered an annual subscriptio.

In other words, Amazon Prime is a competitor with Netflix, and now you can pay for it like you would pay for Netflix.
