Trinamool snubs Modi, defends government’s reply to EC notice

“Five years back, the Congress gave support to the Trinamool Congress, hoping that Mamata ji will bring change in Bengal, work to bring jobs, solve law and order issues and bring in industry”.

Unlike South Bengal, which Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress (TMC) swept in the 2011 elections, Left’s bastion North Bengal stood firm.

“Youths are going to other states to earn a living”. But no factories were set up.

Reiterating that the BJP is the credible third alternative West Bengal, he PM urged people to vote them to power for the sake of development of the State. “Initially, they had said the video was engineered; after that they said it was monetary contribution to the party and later foreign money”.

“I want to ask why she did not act when the Saradha scam came out and her people were caught taking bribes on camera”, Gandhi said, referring to the sting operation in which over a dozen Trinamool leaders were allegedly shown accepting bribes.

Modi was also critical of the Left-Congress alliance, which he claimed to be “unethical” and taking the “voter for a ride”.

If the anti-Mamata forces are opting for Congress-CPM alliance, where does it leave the BJP which was hoping to emerge as a force to reckon with in the state especially after its spectacular performance in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections? “But the chief secretary replied to it and this constitutes misusing the government machinery”, remarked Modi at a public meeting in Nadia. “This is blatant misuse of government machinery”, he pointed out.

Shri Narendra Modi alleged that the TMC, the party people of West Bengal trusted and voted for “Paribartan” in the state, was putting the future of people in darkness by indulging in corruption.

Addressing a rally in Birbhum district, Mamata said, “I have said what I liked, I will again say so, thousand times, crore times, do whatever you [EC] can against me”. He said if a left party was accused of such scam, Mamata would leave no stone unturned to attack the party. She also added that she would repeat what she said if needed be.

He also asked why the flyover could not be completed in seven years time. The youth were leaving the State for better prospects elsewhere, he added.

Rahul said, the prime minister had coined the “Make in India” slogan with a promise that the youth will get employment but there were no signs of that.
