Demand for the new Tesla is wild, but limited to tech fans

Tesla Motors Monday issued a voluntary recall on its luxury SUV, the Model X, for a defective hinge in the third row seats. It’s jumped on the issue, stating that it’s been addressed and any Model X’s built after March 26 are unaffected. In a crash, there is the potential that the seat would fall forward.

“Our European customers and our USA customers are equally important to us”, Jon McNeil, Tesla’s president of sales, service and delivery, said during a conference call with reporters. Futuris is owned by Clearlake Capital, and headquartered in Melbourne, Australia. The fix, as Tesla told us via email, is already in place. We have worked with our supplier to develop a new recliner design with improved quality that resolved the issue. Most customers paid above the Model X $80,000 base price for their cars. The filter is so good, Tesla says only half-jokingly, that it can withstand a bioweapon attack. While it’s still possible that the Model S could get one, it looks likely that the available 90 kilowatt-hour battery will remain the largest available on the Model S.

Really? “We know of a person who drove from San Francisco to L.A. on a single charge and that was two years back”, Chowdhry said.

Tesla will start informing customers of the recall.

All the headlines from Tesla this month have been on the startling success of the new Model 3 launch, with more than 325,000 orders received for a auto that probably won’t see the light of day until 2018. CEO Elon Musk has said Tesla may have been too ambitious in designing certain features within the Model X, which led to slower-than-expected production. Thankfully no injuries have been reported to date, but it’s probably a good idea to get your latch looked at before your third-row occupants are folded up like tacos.
