The Radio Television Digital News Association has announced the winners of the 2016 regional Edward R. Murrow Awards. We’d like to thank both our peers at the RTDNA and our loyal viewers we serve every day for this prestigious honor.
Entries are judged by news directors and journalism professionals across the country, 24 Hour News 8 was up against stations in Indiana, Illinois, Michigan and OH, including large-markets like Detroit and Chicago.

Arash Mosaleh produced the award-winning newscast that featured Anchors Jeremy Hubbard and Deborah Takahara, Chief Meteorologist Dave Fraser and several members of FOX31’s reporting team. This is the second year in a row that Whitney and Brett have won this award. Annually presented by the RTDNA, the Edward R. Murrow Awards recognize outstanding achievements in electronic journalism on the regional and national level. National awards will be announced in June. Also, WTOP’s entire staff was recognized with a regional award for Best Website for exclusive reports on everything from D.C.’s homeless camps to the region’s heroin epidemic, and team coverage of the Pope’s visit to D.C.
