PS4K Specs Include Better GPU, CPU; Sony Dividing User Base?
“Sony seems committed to keeping the NEO and the original PS4 player bases connected”, the Giant Bomb report reads.

As has been the case since these rumors started, Sony has yet to comment on Giant Bomb’s report.
Now here’s where it gets interesting. While performance will obviously be better on the Neo for Sony’s virtual reality platform, all VR games must be made to run on the existing PS4 too.
Giant Bomb also reports that the new PS4 will not replace the current system and will exist alongside it. The PS4 and Neo will use the same PlayStation Network store, same online communities and feature the same user experience. And while there’s an October deadline for NEO-compatible releases, that doesn’t mean the new console will be out that month.
“This is the new, more powerful PlayStation 4”. However, games are not required to run at 4K resolution, and for those that will connect the console to a 4K television, the games will be upscaled to fit the resolution. These documents offered a number of details on specs for the new PS4, how the console will workd and how games will be affected (overview here).
The site adds that as of October all PS4 games are required to ship with a “Neo” mode that offers improved performance on the higher-spec machine.
Games running in NEO mode will see an increase in framerate and framerate stability, as well as better visuals (with 4K resolution supported). There will be no titles exclusive to the NEO, and both consoles will share the same ecosystem. There won’t be any NEO exclusive titles, gameplay options, items or any other features. The matter of price point is always tricky, but fair to say that Sony may end up promoting the new console version with numerous bundles that will make that cost more attractive to the end user.
Further to this new information, development kits are reportedly being released to studios which do not now include the final retail design set to be released.

Sony has commented on the leaks yet, but an official announcement is expected to release in the near future.
