Inbox by Gmail wants to automate your emails even more

That’s really the idea behind Inbox itself, so this all goes the heart of what makes Inbox preferable to boring old Gmail for some. Today an update has been released for Inbox by Gmail which gives it the ability to keep track of events, links, and newsletters.

Inbox changes how we interact with our emails, presenting them as a to-do list rather than a simple list of emails. The latest update adds a number of new features, including one that will group emails from a single event together, then showing you the highlights from each email so you don’t have to delve through each and every one of them yourself.

There’s also a new Chrome extension that you can use to share from he desktop.

These new experiences are rolling out to Inbox by Gmail today.

For instance, if a colleague sends you an invite to an event, you can view all related emails and changes in one place. At first glance, that may seem a bit like a unusual feature to add – Inbox isn’t Pocket, after all – but it’s probably true that a lot of people email links to themselves to remember them. Save to Inbox does the same thing, but smarter. Any email you’ve received that relates to a specific calendar event will be grouped together, for easy access.

Finally, Inbox is getting a link saver feature. Save to Inbox and the other features appear to be working on Android already too.

With newsletter previews, Inbox can show you a short list of the items you might click through before taking you into a more picturesque preview with shortcuts to articles you may want to read.
