A world leader on tackling climate change
Last year, the Philippines, which chaired the Climate Vulnerable Forum (CVF), led the campaign for the inclusion of the 1.5 degrees Celsius global temperature limit in the Paris Agreement during the 21st Conference of Parties in Le Bourget, France.

Highlighting the actions taken by India on climate change after the Paris Agreement, Mr Javadekar said 175 GigaWatt (GW) of renewable energy has been targeted by 2022, out of which 40 GW had been installed by March 2016.
Good Energy founder Juliet Davenport, a climate change pioneer, said: “World leaders are making a huge promise in NY to take action against climate change“.
It could also help efforts to attain the more ambitious goal of limiting warming to 1.5 degrees C (2 degrees F)-which would give a better chance of survival to small islands and other countries on the front lines of climate change.
Following the signing ceremony, 55 countries, which represent at least 55 percent of global greenhouse gas emissions, must complete their domestic ratification procedures to enable the Paris Agreement to come into effect. “And so implementing the Paris agreement is important for promoting prosperity, improving people’s wellbeing, and protecting the environment”.
Ahead of the Paris climate deal signing ceremony on April 22, India has urged developed nations to enhance their commitments to mitigate carbon emissions and mobilise finances for the Green Climate Fund (GCF).
If the timeline will be accelerated, environment ministers said the faster pace shows how seriously committed the state leaders are.
But while politicians continue to debate the existence of man-made climate change, the scientific community has reached consensus.
The plan is to allow Third World countries to emit as much carbon dioxide as they wish, while at the same time restricting emissions in advanced nations.
The IPCC has been assigned to provide a report on the impact of global warming by 2018.
“We are within striking distance of having the agreement start years earlier than anyone anticipated”, Brian Deese, an adviser to President Barack Obama, said in a speech last week at Reed College in Portland, Oregon.
Rich nations blamed for their historic contribution to carbon pollution balked at the idea of any kind of financial compensation for countries now hit by climate impacts.
Also, Mr. Yager uses per capita emissions data, which is meaningless when discussing a country’s emissions.

That means to meet Canada’s 2020 goal, the rest of the country has to reduce emissions by 128 Mt annually in less than five years, which is complete nonsense.
