Trump, Clinton Edge Closer to US Presidential Nominations
Asked about the looming specter of Ohio Gov. John Kasich, who finished second in NY and is likely to finish second in many states that vote next Tuesday, Cruz said that Kasich has “no path” and might be “auditioning to be Trump’s vice president”.

That means he will be able to stay on target, at least for now, in his quest to clinch the Republican nomination by winning nearly 70 percent of the remaining delegates in order to reach 1,237 and avoid a brokered GOP convention in July.
Earlier in the campaign, the Tea Party favorite Ted Cruz was telling his hyper-conservative delegates that Donald Trump really represents “New York values”, as opposed to Texas values one would think.
On the Democratic side, Clinton appears to be all set to become the party’s presidential nominee after her victory in her home state of NY.
Sanders’ campaign manager told USA media on Tuesday night that the socialist senator hopes to win enough delegates to deny Clinton the nomination outright, allowing him to contest the convention.
During his victory speech at Trump Tower in New York City, Trump quipped that Ted Cruz, who came in a distant third, was “just about mathematically eliminated” from the race.
2016 presidential candidates Bernie Sanders and Hillary Clinton. Bernie Sanders. The former Secretary of State has 1,862 delegates to Sanders’ 1,161.
A Democratic candidate needs 2,383 delegates to secure the nomination.
Speaking after the result was announced, Mrs Clinton said “victory is in sight” as she played to her home crowd.
The next primaries will be held in a group of northeastern states: Connecticut, Delaware, Maryland, Pennsylvania, and Rhode Island on Tuesday, April 26. Clinton beat Sanders, 58 percent to 42 percent.
The exit polls also show that the vast majority of New York Democrats would support either Sanders or Clinton in the general election.
The scale and the sweeping nature of Ms. Clinton’s victory in NY underscored the endurance of the Clinton-Democratic establishment and its ability to assemble diverse social and interest groups ranging from minority communities to women and blue-collar workers to Wall Street donors. Kasich received 11,251 votes, or 44.8 percent of the vote, while Trump received 10,393 votes, or 41.4 percent.
“They are going to want to win in November”, Weaver said regarding superdelegates.

“We went all over NY state”, he recalled, saying he went to Syracuse and Albany where the average crowd size was 15,000 people.
