Eagles trade for second overall pick in 2016 NFL Draft
The Browns are sending the second pick, as well as their fourth-round choice, to the Eagles, who in return have traded five picks to Cleveland: their first- (No. 8), third- (No. 77) and fourth-round (No. 100) choices this year, as well as their first-round pick in 2017 and second-round selection in 2018.

It’s always great to have an abundance of draft selections and the Cleveland Browns have hit on their third and fourth-round picks more than their first-round picks in recent drafts.
Did they assume the quarterback they wanted would be gone?
I give the Eagles credit for moving up and getting a “Franchise Quarterback”, but they had better be right about the guy they get, whether it’s Wentz or Goff. The Rams haven’t even declared which of the two they’ll select with the first overall pick, yet the Eagles are apparently content with selecting whomever remains (assuming they are targeting a quarterback, which seems a safe bet). “We’re very sure we’re going to get the player we want”. Good arm strength, good mobility.
– The latest indication is the Rams want Goff over Wentz.
The Eagles re-signed Sam Bradford to a two-year, $35 million deal with $22 million guaranteed this offseason, presumably to be the starting quarterback.
They signed veteran Robert Griffin III to a two-year, $15 million deal but have said they’ll draft another.
The Eagles were believed to have been in the running last week to obtain the draft’s top overall selection from the Titans but were outmaneuvered, or outbid, by the Rams in a trade completed last Wednesday and announced last Thursday morning. On Wednesday, the Browns have made that official, trading the second overall pick to the Philadelphia Eagles.
The Cleveland Browns need to fill numerous holes on their roster and felt that adding more picks is the best way to begin a rebuild with the new regime. He made it to five NFC title games and one Super Bowl. The team had plenty of needs they needed to address, and will now use Wentz/Goff as their No. 3 QB for at least one season. Either way, we know that quarterbacks will be picked 1-2 for the second year in a row.
