RHP Joe Kelly placed on DL after leaving start Tuesday

Considered day-to-day, Bogaerts was pulled after going 2-for-3 with two runs and an RBI single to left field.

Not good, but, apparently, not impossible. But on Thursday, there was Cuevas standing in front of his Fenway Park locker. In one of his first appearances behind the mound in his 2016 campaign, Kelly displayed something very concerning.

“An emotional roller-coaster the whole way”, Evan Longoria said.

Porcello (3-0) allowed three runs and six hits in seven innings, struck out nine and walked one.

It was a career high in runs allowed for Price, who spent six years in Tampa and then was traded at each of the last two trading deadlines, to Detroit in 2014 and Toronto in ’15.

One was Casali, who launched a two-run homer and in eight at-bats against Price, whom he met during his recruiting visit, now has five hits, including three homers, and five RBIs. Prior to David Price’s awful start today, Red Sox starters have 28 strikeouts in 27 innings when Vazquez has caught for them.

Souza’s second RBI hit of the game snapped the tie against debuting right-hander William Cuevas (0-1). Casali hit a two-run homer and Longoria doubled in a run. Steven Souza Jr. doubled home the go-ahead run in the eighth as Tampa, which gave up five runs in the first scored six in the fourth before Boston rallied to tie it 8-all.

They need their rotation in 100 percent health, especially Kelly.

There are two positions on the baseball field besides pitcher where a defensive stud is significantly more important to the team than offensive production: centerfield and catcher.

But Archer is confident he has the answer, that – in a way victim of his own success and stubbornness – he can best get back to doing good by being less concerned with being great. Lots of clutch hits. “But in the first inning, warming up, I was like, ‘Alright, it’s a little bit awkward”.

– This was not the start the Red Sox wanted from Price. “Whenever you get five runs in the bottom half of the first inning, that’s unacceptable”.

The win also enabled the Rays to win back-to-back series for the first time this season. “It was one guy after another”. Price didn’t factor into the decision but his ERA ballooned to 7.06 in four starts.

Mets 11, Phillies 1: Neil Walker hit two of the Mets’ six home runs, Logan Verrett tossed six scoreless innings and NY beat Philadelphia. Longoria dotted the Wall with an 0-and-1 changeup for a two-run double. In the seventh, they loaded the bases with one out and couldn’t score. Ramirez picked up his fourth win of the season, and his third in relief. Erasmo Ramirez (3-0) threw a hitless ninth for Tampa Bay, and Alex Colome pitched the 10th for his second save.

“There’s no “might” about it. I know it”, Betts said. “He’s been tremendous, he comes into any situation and continues to make big pitches”.

“Just didn’t execute. That’s what you got to be able to do, especially with 7, 8, 9 coming up in that inning”, Price said. Price got Pearce to pop up for the second out, but he could not get out of the inning.
