Flood of tributes for Queen Elizabeth on her 90th birthday

Thousands of people turned out to wish Queen Elizabeth II a happy 90th birthday Thursday, as she became the first British monarch to reach that grand age.

The British postal service has issued a series of 10 stamps to mark the milestone birthday. During her time as president, the Princess visited the Royal Welsh Show, held in Carmarthen during that year, and undertook “a triumphant tour of the showground”.

After the Queen lights the beacon, heir to the throne Charles will host a lavish private dinner in the castle for his mother, attended by her family.
