Set to start filming in June, Tom Holland will play the newest Spider-Man after portrayals by Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire.
It seems like the unprecedented deal-making between Sony and Marvel that is allowing Spider-Man to appear in Civil War and beyond may open the floodgates. We’ll find out May 6, when Captain America: Civil War arrives. It’s not clear whether he’ll be bringing his Iron Man armor with him, although insiders say it’s likely.
Though the actor behind the Iron Man suit, Robert Downey Jr., has plainly expressed his disinterest in a fourth installation in the “Iron Man” movie franchise, fans have been nothing but persistent in believing in an “Iron Man 4” movie.
In addition to his forthcoming Spider-Man appearance, Downey Jr. shared exciting news with fans about a possible Sherlock Holmes sequel.
Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige recently told EW that the deal is a two-way street.
The Spider-Man reboot is being directed by Jon Watts based on a script penned by John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein.
Downey Jr. reprises his role as Iron Man in the movie – the third “Captain America” film – while Cheadle is back as War Machine.
Earlier this month we got confirmation of the title of the new Spider-Man movie, along with a few more details about Tom Holland’s first full outing as the web-slinger.
Spider-Man: Homecoming has already lined up Marisa Tomei as Aunt May (and she’ll be in Civil War as well), while also adding Zendaya, Tony Revolori, and Laura Harrier in now undisclosed roles.
It looks like the partnership Iron Man and Spider-Man establish in “Captain America: Civil War” will continue in “Spider-Man: Homecoming”.
