The United States remains open to credible and meaningful diplomacy with North Korea but the country has shown no interest, Sung Kim, the US special envoy for North Korea, said on Thursday.

The workers, from a restaurant North Korea says is in the eastern Chinese city of Ningbo, were the biggest group to defect since Kim Jong Un took power in North Korea in 2011. China, for example, stepped up by imposing sanctions on North Korea over their nuclear tests.
But group defections are rare, especially by staff who work in the North Korea-themed restaurants overseas that are a key source of hard currency for the regime in Pyongyang.
The institute analyzed that North Korea has lost potential revenue worth $5.1 billion, more than 70 percent of the communist country’s official annual budget of around $7 billion as estimated by the South Korean government.
Tal Inbar of Israel’s Fisher Institute for Air and Space Strategic Studies, while testifying at a congressional hearing on the “ballistic axis”, a reference to Iran’s and North Korea’s space program, said that a solid rocket engine tested in March by North Korea was built with technology acquired from Iran.
According to 38 North, a website specializing in North Korean matters, satellite imagery from April 19th shows vehicles and equipment moving around the entrances and main support area of Pyongyang’s nuclear test site, which may indicate possible preparations for a fifth nuclear test. He added North Korea will make sure the US pay the price for hampering the North’s sustainable development, and urged Washington to immediately end its “hostile policy” toward Pyongyang.
“Signs are emerging that North Korea is feeling considerable pain due to the strongest-ever U.N. Security Council sanctions and other means of pressure”, Foreign Minister Yun Byung-se said during a forum hosted by Seoul National University alumni.
“The North Korean employees must be given a public press conference right away so that they can receive the fair judgment of public opinion”, North Korea said.
Some of the troops are responsible for measuring the radioactive material that could be emitted in the event of a North Korean nuclear test, the ICHRD said. “Over time, I believe we’re going to see them acquire these capabilities if they’re not stopped”. Moreover, the U.S. commanders of PACOM, NORAD, and U.S. Forces Korea a year ago stated their belief that Pyongyang had the ability to target the continental United States with a nuclear ICBM.
