A ‘presidential’ Trump 2.0? Not so fast

Jolly made clear in his letter to Trump that his resignation is not because of the candidate, Lewandowski or the field staff.

“Bringing additional people into the campaign has always been part of the strategy, and my role hasn’t changed at all”.

The announcement comes amid reports of the Trump campaign shuffling its staff, with veteran Paul Manafort, hired just weeks prior as Trump’s Republican convention manager, replacing Lewandowski. Trump’s national field director, Stuart Jolly, resigned on Monday when he learned he would have to answer to Wiley in a professional capacity. This past weekend saw Manafort, Wiley and campaign aide Stephen Miller on the shows in lieu of their boss.

“We knew it was going to have some effect on all of the campaigns but especially Mr Trump in availability and interaction with the press and public”, a source close to the campaign told The Mirror.

Jacobus says in court papers that she never even formally applied for the job, and certainly didn’t hold a grudge against the campaign when she didn’t get it.

The campaign also announced last week that Rick Wiley, who previously managed Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker’s campaign, had been hired as national political director, overseeing the campaign’s filed operations.

In the $4 million defamation lawsuit on Monday in New York City, Jacobus states that Trump, Lewandowski, and the Trump campaign attempted to smear her after she criticized the candidate as a television pundit.

“While libel suits are generally hard to prove, in this matter it is indisputable that the statements of Trump and his agents which are the subject of this lawsuit are defamatory”, said Jay Butterman, the attorney for Jacobus, Politico reported.

Trump, speaking with reporters during an interview organized by Rockland County Hasidic activists, told Lewandowski to “tell my friends from, in some cases, Israel, how loyal Mr. Trump was to you”. “He’s still getting back on his game, but the essence of it was right; there is a system in play where delegates being selected and the manner and influence behind that doesn’t seem to be reflective of the popular vote”, Hammond added.

Fields said Wednesday on Twitter that prosecutors asked her if she would be OK with an apology from Lewandowski.

At another meeting at Trump’s campaign offices, the suit states, Lewandowski boasted “about yelling at Megyn Kelly” and “Trump’s relationship with Roger Ailes”.

“When you bring in new people – and we’re bringing in very high-level people”, Trump responded. So far, however, Senator Ted Cruz is cleaning Trump’s clock at state conventions even where Trump easily defeated him, giving Cruz an organizing edge in a floor fight.

He has also faced criticism for attacking the GOP in Florida for its allocation of delegates, accusing the chairman of Florida’s Republican Party, Blaise Ingoglia, of being overtly biased against Trump.

Still, campaign senior adviser Barry Bennett tells NBC News that the campaign feels they’re in a good position to sweep delegates in the NY primary.

Cheryl Jacobus alleges Trump and his people “wrongly and maliciously” said on national television that she badmouthed Trump because he denied her a PR job
