Sherlock Holmes 3 in development with Robert Downey Jr
It won’t be elementary (here all week!), but Downey is itching to crack another case with director Guy Ritchie and co-star Jude Law.

Thanks to the massive popularity of the Iron Man and Avengers movies it’s easy to forget that Robert Downey Jr. is a part of another financially successful franchise.
Sherlock Holmes debuted in theatres in 2009 with its sequel Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows premiering in 2011. “I’m exhausted all the time, but I’m excited about it”.
Robert Downey Jr and Guy Ritchie are due to start working on a third installment of the popular Sherlock movie series.
“We’ll attempt to make one this year”, Downey Jr continued.
I have a hard time believing that Sherlock Holmes 3 won’t get made eventually since the first two films grossed north of $500 million worldwide, but I’ll remain nice and skeptical about a 2016 start date for now. Last year, we were told that there was a script being worked on, but the implication was that they hadn’t really found an idea to wrap a story around yet, much less an actual shooting script. Even Robert Downey Jr.’s words here are a little vague. “I think we would all love to do one if we could come up with something that really was really going to knock it out of the park and was going to be the best of the three”.
Either way, it’ll be good for Downey Jr.to get a break from tossing off smarmy one-liners as an iconic character by taking a role in a Sherlock Holmes movie directed by Guy Ritchie.

More as we hear it, of course… However, it’s not the only major movie franchise that the actor is involved with. As it turns out, a new Sherlock movie is in the works. But the cast and crew seem confident that they’ll be embraced just as warmly this time around.
