Eagles drafting Carson Wentz after acquiring No. 2 pick from Browns
“I took a lot of abuse a month or two ago for saying Wentz and Goff were every bit in the conversation with last year’s (top quarterbacks) Mariota and Winston”, Mayock said during a Friday media teleconference.

Los Angeles’ decision next Thursday comes down to either Cal’s Jared Goff or North Dakota State’s Carson Wentz.
While Goff and Wentz are the consensus first-tier quarterbacks, Jackson made it clear that they might not be the two best in the eyes of the Browns. “We want to assemble a young nucleus of talented players and this trade positions us really well”. Most of the chatter for the top two quarterbacks in the draft has been that they are similar, they have similar current abilities and ceilings.Cleveland signed Robert Griffin III this offseason to be the team’s short-term bridge option, and now they can address those need and build around Griffin.
If the Eagles do grab a quarterback with the second pick, that means they’d have three well-paid quarterbacks on the roster, which is one too many, according to Jon Gruden.
“We will get this right, ” he said. But they also knew about the possibility that the Eagles could try to trade up for a franchise quarterback.
To hopefully fill some of these holes with more draft picks, the Browns on Wednesday morning traded the No. 2 overall pick to the Philadelphia Eagles for five additional NFL Draft picks over three seasons.
The trade request came just one day after Bradford reportedly met with Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie, top team executive Howie Roseman, and coach Doug Pederson.
It’s actually worse than that: Daniel’s contract includes $12 million in guarantees, Bradford’s includes $22 million in guarantees, and whomever comes in with the No. 2 pick will get a contract that includes at least $24 million in guarantees.
To that I would say, what part of the two-year, “we don’t want you to be our long-term starter because you aren’t that good, but you’ll keep us out of the basement temporarily” contract did he not understand when he signed it?
Pederson also added that Wentz can rise into an “elite quarterback” in the National Football League level. If there is a chance to get a quarterback they’re, going to take it no matter what.

Cole’s report of a potential trade request comes on the heels of ESPN’s Adam Schefter reporting Wednesday that Bradford is “hot” about the Eagles trading up with the Browns. Once again we’re, seeing that the quarterback is the most coveted position. However, the Browns insist that whether or not they draft a quarterback, there will still be a competition between Griffin, Josh McCown, Austin Davis and Connor Shaw for the starting job. It’s hard to get one guy to go today, let alone two.
