Frampton, who has a 22-0 career record, is aiming to become the first Northern Ireland boxer to win world titles at different weights.
His tweet was quickly followed by one from Frampton himself. Would love to give boxing fans a fight vs @ RealCFrampton this summer.
In February, he beat Scott Quigg in a super-bantamweight unification bout.
He was subsequently stripped of the WBA bauble for failing to open negotiations with mandatory challenger Guillermo Rigondeaux, a fight that would have generated far less money than the Santa Cruz showdown.
Frampton suggested after the Quigg fight that he would seek to step up to featherweight for a big fight against either IBF champion Lee Selby or WBA holder Santa Cruz.
