Red Dog drew a map that led to the dump site and later confessed to authorities that she had killed Olson, prosecutors said.
Authorities did not yet disclose the relationship between Red Dog and Olson, but they noted it was Red Dog who first reported the girl missing to law enforcement.
Trottier told the court the confession was recorded.
Red Dog’s attorney, Mary Zemyan, didn’t immediately return a telephone message from The Associated Press seeking comment.
The judge determined there was probable cause to charge Red Dog and her arraignment was set for Tuesday.
The relation between Red Dog and the girl remains uncertain.

Barker says the woman is jailed on unspecified charges on Montana’s Fort Peck Indian Reservation.
Much remains unknown in the latest case.
Dupree said he watched teams of local and federal investigators working through the neighborhood, including looking through trash bins in the alleys that run behind Kenzley’s house.
The Amber Alert was issued on Tuesday afternoon after the child had gone missing and covered several western states when it was believed that Tweet and Dornheim, from North Dakota, may have been headed there with the child.
What charges this woman faces haven’t been disclosed yet, however an answer to that question should be available later this week.
It is not yet known how Kenzley Olson died, or what the suspect has been charged with.
The FBI has assumed full control of the investigation into Kenzley’s death.
Investigators initially said Kenzley was abducted from her home this week in the small town of Poplar.
It was the second major event in recent weeks to rattle residents of the sparsely populated reservation near the U.S.-Canada border. If you would like to discuss another topic, look for a relevant article.
Olson’s death followed the February 26 abduction of a 4-year-old girl from a public park in Wolf Point, a town about 20 miles west of Poplar also in Roosevelt County.
