Golovkin searching for stardom in a city of stars
“The pay-per-view buy rate for the Golovkin and Lemieux card which featured “Chocolatito” against a very good American opponent in Brian Vilora didn’t make quite the splash that most enthusiastic supporters of those two fighters would hope for”. On a 21-bout knockout streak, Golovkin has compiled an extraordinary knockout-to-win ratio of 91%; no opponent has gone the distance with him since June 2008.

If Golovkin handles Wade as easily as expected, Alvarez will be under pressure to agree to a showdown.
“We pick winners! It’s not about the money for Dominic”.
“With his activity I think it’s definitely possible he can break Bernard’s record”, said K2 Promotions’ Tom Loeffler, Golovkin’s promoter. “My question every single day is, how can I accomplish that?”.
Gennady fights this weekend against undefeated Dominic Wade – but everyone wants to know who GGG will fight next. especially with talk of a superfight with Canelo Alvarez. “The people love my style”. “Wade is the next step”.
“Maybe I’ll be the one to shut it all down”, said Wade, who promised “a war” on Saturday. “I may never get this shot again”.
Ramirez impressively outboxed veteran titlist Arthur Abraham to win his first world championship on the Manny Pacquiao-Timothy Bradley undercard on April 9, and he presents a potentially intriguing matchup (because of his size and range) for GGG. “I’m ready for him [Canelo Alvarez] I’m ready for big drama show”, Golovkin said. I understand he’s not easy fight for me.
“I see flaws in his game that I can take advantage of”, Wade said. Gonzalez (44-0, 38 KOs) takes on Puerto Rico’s McWilliams Arroyo (16-2, 14 KOs) in his fourth title defense. Although Golovkin, 34, could likely jog from his home to train at Wild Card West gym in Santa Monica, he prefers the solitude and single-mindedness that come in Big Bear. He just wants to enjoy his retirement for now and when he is bored with it, then he might reconsider coming back but stressed that it will not be against Golovkin.
Golovkin and Gonzalez are so great, it’s nearly as if boxing fans feel it’s a privilege to watch them do their destructive work.
Golovkin could easily fill up the 20,000-seat T-Mobile Arena after selling out Madison Square Garden in October. Roman displayed his world class boxing skills, outstanding offense, and precise punching to the sold out MSG crowd. It’s insane, I told them when I leave, they still gonna miss me. Three of Triple G’s fights have been in Monaco. “Also fighting in the same venue where my idol Alexis Arguello was successful means a great deal to me”.
Arroyo who is fighting for a title for the second time in his career lost a very close, controversial split-decision to Amnat Ruenroeng in Thailand in 2014, had this to say of Roman.

Gonzalez has a lot to live up to in any fight. As soon as the fight was offered I jumped at the opportunity.” said Arroyo “I am aware that Gonzalez is a hard puncher, but I also hit hard and know that I can box too.
