Kirpal Singh’s body was brought here late on Wednesday for conducting his last rites. The body was taken in a van to the Amritsar civil hospital for a post-mortem examination.

Though the Pakistani authorities have given heart attack as the reason for Kirpal Singh’s death, his family members are alleging torture and foul play as the reason. Singh’s nephew said there were injury marks on his face and body, and his family wanted another post-mortem to be performed in India.

The victim, Kirpal Singh, was arrested on February 29, 1992, by Pakistani law enforcement agencies for illegally crossing the border.

Amritsar: The body of Indian prisoner Kirpal Singh, who died under suspicious circumstances in a Lahore jail last week, was brought back to India on Tuesday.

Just like with the body of Sarabjit Singh, vital organs are missing from the body of Kirpal Singh, another Indian who died in a Pakistani jail. Earlier, he was sentenced to death in a serial bomb blasts case at Faisalabad in Punjab province of Pakistan.

Kaur suspects that Singh’s heart was removed by Pakistan jail authorities, similar to that of Sarabjit’s, so that a test on consumption of posion couldn’t be done. Sarabjit’s sister Dalbir Kaur, who was also present there, alleged that whatever doubts they had turned out to be true.

Hundreds of people joined the mournful family members, relatives and friends of Kirpal Singh during the cremation to bid farewell to him.

“During the postmortem examination, it was found that his heart as well as stomach were missing”.
