The Columbia County Sheriff’s Office identified 50-year-old Wayne Anthony Hawes as a suspect in the shootings.

Police say the suspect in the shooting, Wayne Anthony Hawes, was found dead around midnight.

Five people died in what appeared to be a pair of domestic-related shootings in Appling, Georgia, Friday night, according to multiple media reports.

Police did not immediately release a motive in the killings, but Hawes’ daughter told the Associated Press on Saturday her father was a “ticking time bomb” after her mother ended their relationship.

“She said the road late on Friday was teeming with police officers, some of them with assault rifles”.

Columbia County Coroner Vernon Collins said three people were shot at one location in Appling, two of whom died at the scene; a third died at the hospital.

” “We just kind of peeked out, ‘ she said, adding that they saw a man leave from the victims” home in a auto”.

“He made threats before, but we never thought it would be at this capacity”, Lauren Hawes said.

Lauren Hawes said Rheba Mae Dent was her grandmother, and her cousin was Trequila Clark. He later confirmed a fifth person was killed at Augusta University. She said Roosevelt Burns was her grandmother’s brother.

Murray says she thought Hawes was a nice guy, but said he made a “stupid” decision. “You always have to put the Lord in front of you, let him lead you and you won’t go wrong”.
