Iron Man will appear in Spider-Man: Homecoming
Just days back, it was reported that Tony Revolori from “The Grand Budapest Hotel” and Laura Harrier from “One Life to Live” joined the cast. So it’s only mildly surprising that Robert Downey Jr. has been confirmed to join Tom Holland in Spider-Man: Homecoming, but will Michael Keaton still play the villain in the reboot? The Beetlejuice and Duplicity star was reportedly in talks to play a villain in the forthcoming reboot.

Though this is the third attempt in fourteen years to establish Spider-Man on the silver screen, this is the first time Sony has allowed the iconic superhero to appear with other Marvel heroes.
Robert Downey Jr. will appear in Sony’s “Spider-Man: Homecoming” as Tony Stark.
According to numerous sources, the relationship between Spider-Man and Iron Man will be one that is nuanced and special as the seasoned superhero (Iron Man) brings Spiderman into the world of the avengers.
Some footage of the upcoming movie was also shown where Peter Parker comes home to find Tony Stark having a conversation with Aunt May. We’ll be sure to keep you posted with more updates on Spider-Man: Homecoming as more details and cast members are announced. With Tom Holland’s already critically acclaimed performance as Spider-Man in Civil War making headlines, perhaps the Marvel Cinematic Universe no longer needs Downey as it once did.
“Spider-Man: Homecoming” has added a major character in its ensemble in the person of Robert Downey Jr.
As Simpkins is only 14 years old as of this writing, it is apparent that he is too young to play the role at this point in time.
“Spider-Man: Homecoming” is slated to hit theaters on July, 7, 2017.

This confirms for certain that Iron Man will survive the events of Civil War, although Captain America’s survival isn’t completely confirmed yet.
