Prince’s publicist and lawyer didn’t respond to requests for comment.
Though his longtime record label, Warner Bros. The deal reportedly gave Prince back the rights to his master recordings in exchange for his willing participation in a reissue campaign that would kick off with a deluxe, expanded version of his classic “Purple Rain”.
In just the last few years, Prince opened the door to the little red corvette and let people see more of his personal side, but wanted the focus to remain on the music.

“He was very aware of what would get attention and what would get noticed”, Light said. “It was one of those things where if Prince wasn’t going to smile, I wasn’t going to smile either”, said Chapman. There are really no words to express what we have all lost today.
Prince’s negotiating style was unorthodox.
I mean, all of my Prince “albums” are actually on cassette tapes. “It’s the only artist I’ve had that direct relationship with”. Along with his exit from streaming services, he also consolidated control over his music by quitting the dominant performance-rights organizations, Ascap and BMI, which collect licensing fees on behalf of members. But there’s only one place to find the majority it – and that’s Jay Z’s streaming music service Tidal. The company released a statement via social media saying, “A genius, innovator, creator, family member, Prince will be truly missed”. But if you want to listen to his complete collection, then you should get a Tidal account, if you don’t have one already.
Some 230,000 albums and 1 million singles from Prince’s catalog were sold in the United States alone on the day he died, according to BuzzAngle Music, which tracks daily music sales. Whoever ends up being the administrators and executors will make those decisions.
“His music probably was not as readily available to a lot of people”, said Vickie Nauman, owner of CrossBorderWorks, a Los Angeles-based entertainment and technology consultant.
Prince doesn’t have an official station with a comprehensive list of his songs on YouTube or Vevo.

A sequel to “HITnRUN: Phase One”, named after Prince’s tours in which he schedules shows at the last minute, the album featured several songs already in the public realm, including the danceable and ultra-sexy “Xtraloveable”, which he had been playing since 1982 without formally releasing it.
