US agencies issues rules to protect workers from Zika
The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has issued an urgent call for employers to play a more active role in protecting their employees from zika transmission.

“We encourage those concerned about symptoms to consult their doctor, particularly if they have traveled to an affected area and particularly if they are pregnant”, Governor Dannel P. Malloy said in a statement.
Some travelers to areas with zika will become infected while traveling but will not become sick until they return home and they might not have any symptoms.
A pregnant woman from Missouri who traveled to Nicaragua is the fourth resident from the state to contract the Zika virus overseas, state health officials said today.
A virus can be introduced to a new region when a local mosquito picks it up from an infected human – someone coming back from a holiday in South America, for example. It’s also thought that a man can transmit the Zika virus to his female partner during sex. Right now, the debate about fetal tissue is holding up really important research into the effects of a possible Zika vaccine, among other serious medical research that could help in the fight against the virus.
The positive test announcement came exactly five weeks after the DPH reported the first case of Zika in CT.
Just this week, scientific website ELifeSciences.org released a report this week which includes a map showing the areas of the planet where there is environmental suitability for the Zika virus, which was first discovered in 1947 in Africa and is transmitted by the Aedes mosquito.
She said people should take the normal precautions as mosquito season nears. One victim was a pregnant woman. This species of mosquito isn’t present in CT and related mosquitoes are not likely to spread the disease within the state.
But some women’s health specialists argue that the government “shouldn’t tell women what to do with their bodies”, the Times reported. But when it comes to what we know about Zika virus and its impacts, at least after watching this video you can say, “Now I get it”.
Zika generally causes a fever, rash, joint pain and red eyes for a couple of days to a week and the need for hospitalization is rare, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. “They’ve already had dengue in Florida and Texas and they’re anticipating the same issues with Zika”.

Although a full-scale breakout of the zika virus in the United States is a fairly low risk, the CDC warns that people should not underestimate their risk for getting the virus.
