Tesla recalls thousands of Model X SUVs
The electric auto maker made the announcement on Monday, and the recall will affect all Model X cars that were manufactured before March 26, which amounts to a total of 2,700 vehicles.

The recall, which is the first for the brand’s SUV model, is due to an issue which could cause the third-row seats to fold forward during a crash.
Tesla told customers that a fix to the issue is “already in place”. The company said it has not received any reports about this issue and it only discovered a potential problem during additional European seat strength tests prior to selling the Model X outside North America. The company said tests revealed the defect, however there have been no reported injuries from related to it and the auto has passed all crash tests in United States.
The EU test was different and more stringent, the company said. Gone is the fake black grille, replaced by a slim piano black and chrome garnish that resembles the piece fitted to the front of the Model X crossover.
The company’s shares were down 0.2 percent at $249.52 on Monday afternoon.
Tesla’s goal is to accelerate the world’s transition to electric mobility with a full range of increasingly affordable electric cars. The filter is so good, Tesla says only half-jokingly, that it can withstand a bioweapon attack.
Owners will be contacted further in order to schedule replacements, which should be completed over the next five weeks.
The seat backs were provided by a manufacturing partner, Futuris, which which Tesla will continue to work.
In November, Tesla recalled 90,000 Model S sedans to check seat belts.
The Model X, distinguished by its gull-wing-style, upward-opening rear seat doors, went into production previous year.

Tesla is blaming the issue on a third-party manufacturer, Futuris, which supplied the third-row seats.
