Dallas Stars get win on Weirdest NHL Goal Ever
Benn scored on a breakaway that he ended with a backhand to make it 2-0 with 9:37 left in the game, and that was big since the Wild got their first goal of the series soon after that.

“We’ve got to find a way to get our fluke goal”, coach John Torchetti said.
After blanking the Wild in Game 1 of the conference quarterfinals the Dallas Stars will look to build a 2-0 lead on Minnesota when the two teams meet again tonight at 8:00PM ET.
However, the statement says video replay confirmed the net had not completely come off the pegs than anchor it to the ice when the puck went in. “So, there were a lot of options there to go over”.
“I don’t know if anyone can really riddle me how that’s a goal in the National Hockey League, but it was”, Wild defenseman Matt Dumba said.
The first part is whether or not Roussel’s play behind the net is considered a distinct kicking motion. “I’m happy to get things going well in the first game”.
“I think they understood the message”, Torchetti said.
A goal may be disallowed if a player is deemed to direct the puck into the net with a “distinct kicking motion”. Going into the playoffs, the Stars had the fourth-best power play percentage in the league at 22.1 percent.
Marco Scandella scored for the lone Wild goal in the third period ending Minnesota’s scoring drought that was over five periods long.
The puck hit Dubnyk, then slid down his back and dropped onto the ice as the net became dislodged as he backed up. Only after the puck has already crossed the goal line is the net completely off the mooring. Spezza then scored with a wrist shot from the edge of the right circle that beat Dubnyk high and just inside the near post.
Lehtonen denied Wild captain Mikko Koivu as he attempted to redirect a shot at close range with 27.1 seconds remaining as Minnesota had the extra attacker. These two games pushes Lehtonen’s last playoff series further into the past; that was in 2014 against Anaheim, and he was in net when Dallas gave up a 4-2 lead in the final two minutes to lose game 6 – and the series – to the Ducks. But the Wild were still without their two top forwards.
Center Mikael Granlund was a one-man show at times Saturday, recording a team-leading seven shots on net. The Wild have also lost six postseason games in a row, having been swept by eventual Stanley Cup champion Chicago in the second round of last year’s playoffs. Seguin missed the previous 11 games with a cut Achilles that required surgery…. Porter finished with only one shot in the game. Dallas was able to kill off some valuable time on a delayed penalty with just under 4 minutes left in the game.

Throughout the remainder of the game, the Wild continued to take penalties, giving the Stars’ lethal power play chance after chance to score. For the most part, they kept their poise and even outplayed Dallas in some areas.
