Microsoft New Zealand has officially announced that the Windows 10 operating system is now available in this country as a free upgrade to eligible devices, or with new PCs and tablets. Since Windows 10 looks familiar to the previous versions of Windows, you will recognize the desktop and taskbar, but the icons, colors, backgrounds and lock screens appear modern and fresh.

That means if you’re building a computer from scratch or want to install Windows on your Mac, you’ll have to pay. However, do not rush to upgrade until some of the bugs in the system have been fixed. For new (or old) Windows users, Microsoft confirmed to NBC News that pricing will be the same for Windows 10 as it was for Windows 8.1: $119 for the consumer-focused Windows 10 Home, and $199 for the Pro version.

The partnership with Chinese software and hardware companies is an unprecedented promotion effort for the Redmond, Washington-based company to reach out to more users in the world’s largest PC and mobile device market.

IT administrators can start testing Windows 10 Enterprise now with a 90-day evaluation.

Also, most of the Windows 10 sales will be to businesses, which traditionally stall the longest before upgrading, says Bajarin.

On the other hand, the automatic download of the new OS into PCs over the next few days will allow Microsoft to efficiently distribute the OS to Windows users.

In addition, Microsoft is counting on Windows 10 to spur more use of other services. This is good enough for most desktop users not to hold back and to accept the free upgrade to Windows 10. Windows 10 has a feature called “Windows Hello” that will learn your face and use it to log you into your computer without you needing a password.

Q: Why is it important to the tech industry? Once the operation is complete, the Windows 10 install process is a simple reboot away. PC makers are hoping he succeeds.

Wednesday is going to be a rough day for the Internet.

Cortana, Microsoft’s digital assistant, is also built into Windows 10 and becomes helpful the more you use it. But it can’t handle the New Zealand accent yet.
