The 57-year-old Prince died Thursday at his Paisley Park compound in suburban Minneapolis. An autopsy was done Friday but no cause has been announced.
Some of Prince’s most beloved family, friends and musicians celebrated his life in a small, private service yesterday after his remains had been cremated.
Maurice Phillips, Prince’s brother-in-law who is married to his sister Tyka, also took the time to come out to chat and take pictures with the fans.
Paisley Park staff members found Prince collapsed in an elevator on the first floor of the estate, the authorities said.
The security fence around the estate was covered with purple balloons, flowers, and signs honoring the famous singer. About 48 minutes before reaching Minneapolis, the pilot asked air traffic controllers to allow them to make an emergency landing because of an unresponsive male on board, and the flight was diverted to Moline, Ill, according to an airport official there. His family handed out gifts to some fans who were gathered outside Paisley Park.
Admitting Prince’s cause of death is still unclear, the rep also revealed plans for a public celebration of his life. He played the rest of the show without incident, repeatedly jumping up from the piano and pacing around the stage between songs, and performed three encores.
The artist died on Thursday at age 57.
It’s been widely reported Prince had to be hospitalized just days before his death due to a drug overdose.
NBC’s Saturday Night Live is airing a special tribute show titled “Goodnight Sweet Prince”.
Owen Husney’s words come amid reports that Ms Nelson, Prince’s closest living relative, could inherit his multimillion pound fortune and other items such as his vault of unreleased material.
For the third straight day, Prince fans in Minnesota are flocking to sites made famous by the music superstar and hometown hero.
Jeremiah Freed, who runs the website drfunkenberry.com and who got to know Prince after writing about him over the years, said he last saw Prince at the dance party.
“I said, Prince, you’ll be missed”. But she said she hadn’t talked directly to him for several months.
