“Meet the Press” moderator Chuck Todd asked the actor about Sanders’ charge that Clinton’s fundraising efforts were “obscene”, and center around those who have “undue influence over the political process”. The ones he and other Democratic donors support “would probably cost us a lot of money” while “the Koch brothers would probably profit if they get their way”.
Pressed on what Clinton had done to show she was influenced by the money she had raised on Wall Street or her speaking fees, Sanders said she was too busy giving speeches to Goldman Sachs to break up the big banks.
Clinton, on a two-day trip to California, arrived to the San Francisco home as about a hundred protesters, many who appeared to be wearing official Sanders campaign shirts and merchandise, chanted and banged on pots and pans. Clooney told NBC that they were right to protest.
“This is the issue of American politics today”.
For $38,000-per-ticket, party goers had the opportunity to eat dinner at the event and get their picture taken with Clinton, but they didn’t have access to the Clooneys. “Do we have a government that represents all of us or represents the one per cent?” “The rest go to the DNC and 32 state parties across the country to help elect Democrats up and down the ballot, including local and statewide candidates”.
The actor added that he does not enjoy the fundraisers, and linked the work of his foundation, which traces the wealth of corrupt politicians, to that of the Panama Papers and the supreme court case.
The Democratic debate in Brooklyn Thursday between candidates Hillary Clinton and Sen. “An overwhelming amount of the money we’re raising is going to the down ticket – to Congressmen and Senators, so we can try to take back Congress”.
Sanders was at the Vatican Saturday, where he met briefly with Pope Francis. “It’s over for him, It’s about math, and it’s not on his side”, Linda Slauson, 63, a marriage and family therapist from Long Beach, said as she waited in line on the manicured grounds of the college.
