McGregor pulled from Nate Diaz fight amid retirement talk

Ironically, McGregor himself was in Iceland training at the time for UFC 200 when the whole event unfolded. Now, if McGregor had already decided of leaving the sport, would there be any particular reason for him to train ahead of his bout against Diaz on July 9, 2016?

Other shadowy sources have said that Conor rightfully wanted to be a top-paid fighter of all-time and frankly what he’s worth.

Some think McGregor’s tweet may have been prompted by a row with White.

The controversy surrounding Conor McGregor’s “retirement” has taken another twist after his father Tony stated that, as far as he was aware, his son has retired from Mixed Martial Arts. Only he could answer that question.

“The Notorious” won’t be headlining UFC 200 anymore. Only last month, Diaz earned the honor of being the only man to beat Conor McGregor in the UFC, according to BBC Sports. McGregor was present during the fight in Dublin where he was supporting Ward.

But after releasing the odds, they cheekily said that the UFC featherweight champion is welcome to work for them and could live-tweet UFC 200. White attempted to liken the situation to that of Nick Diaz being removed from the main event of UFC 137 after failing to attend a press conference to promote an October 2011 fight with Georges St. Pierre.

The sweet, irrepressible, magnificent jerk that is Conor McGregor has sent shockwaves through the UFC community by announcing that he’s taking early retirement.

Should that be it for the 27-year-old McGregor, it would have been quite a ride.

A story on UFC’s official website said: “McGregor informed UFC officials that he would not participate in any promotional activities, including a commercial shoot and press conferences”. It’s just you can’t decide not to show up to these things. We spend a lot of money with this stuff, and you have to do it, man. Obviously we still have a good relationship with Conor.
