Former long-time UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones recently declared his intention to fight at the company’s upcoming blockbuster event on July 9th, UFC 200.

“I’ve got to kill this Debbie Downer attitude”, he said.

“Sorry guys, if you weren’t satisfied by that”, Jones told the crowd following the fight.

Knowing he was four rounds to the good, Jones kept his distance in the final round, knowing he just needed to see the fight out and he did just that. “Come chase this real title, and get beat, and I’ll ship you back to Albuquerque”.

Jon Jones and Ovince Saint Preux headline a strong card at UFC 197 this Saturday night, with Jones a big betting favorite at the sportsbooks.

Shannon Tanner said people make mistakes and it is not his place to judge Jones.

The UFC is now without a main event for UFC 200 after the promotion pulled Conor McGregor from the card last week when he refused to travel from Iceland to Las Vegas to promote the fight.

Whether Jones still has the knockout power that saw him win nine of his 23 MMA fights by knockout remains to be seen, with Cormier set to test that out should the two go on to set-up a fight in the near future as is expected.

Dana White has indicated that the rematch could be the main event at UFC 200 if both fighters are medically cleared.

Cormier, 17-1, was scheduled to fight Jones at UFC 197 but was forced off the card three weeks ago with a shin injury. It represented one of the interim belts the fight promotion all too often creates to help hype up fights. There will be some questions when Jon gets back home on Monday. Johnson’s clinch was took much for Cejudo. “I’ve seen some guys go out there and they freeze like a deer in headlights”. Overall, Saint Preuxis 7-2 in the UFC, and he’s had some decent performances, but is not exactly the most consistent fighter.
