CLEVELAND (AP) – A person familiar with the trade says the Indians have dealt outfielder Brandon Moss to the St. Louis Cardinals.

Moss played four seasons in the NL with Philadelphia and Pittsburgh. The bat has not hit too well this year – he’s hitting just.217/.208/.487 this season and perversely, is hitting lefties better than righties – but he has a line of.254/.340/.504 over the previous three years. 217 batting average is on pace to be a career low for a full season, but his run production has been solid, with 15 home runs and 50 RBI.

Because he has a ton of experience playing both corner outfield spots as well as first base, Moss will help the Cardinals cover for Holliday’s injury as well add depth at first base, where the team is without Matt Adams (quad).

Cleveland acquired the 31-year-old Moss from the Oakland Athletics this past offseason, and results have been mixed. His.

The Indians have to be happy with what they’re receiving. Kaminsky was the Cardinals’ first-round selection in 2013 and was listed as the team’s No. 3 overall prospect at the time of the trade.

FOX Sports’ Ken Rosenthal also confirmed the deal and said the Indians view Kaminsky as “having a good chance to be a major-league starting pitcher”.

On the Holliday front, he already missed over a month earlier this year with a similar injury and is expected to be sidelined for multiple weeks again.
